Teachers from the US city of Boise have developed a new app aimed at helping police department improve its services and communicating with homeless people in the city and the concerned institutions to provide them with shelters and food. 

 

In Austin, teachers have developed an app focused on the Ronald McDonald House Charities concerned in providing shelters for families that have children requiring critical medical care. 

 

The app helps those families communicate with the charity during their stay at the provided homes. 

 

Teachers in Columbus have developed an app that helps firefighters record and monitor the duration of time they are exposed to hazardous carcinogenic materials during their work.

 

Tech giant, Apple Inc. said its five-week program, "Teacher Coding Academies", organized as part of its Community Education Initiative, has achieved its goals of helping many teachers in different cities, like Houston, Austin, Boise, Nashville and Columbus, to teach coding and programming. 

 

The initiative adopted the "challenge-based learning" concept aiming at teaching educators how to code and use social media platforms. The program saw the participation of many teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools from various states, schools and ethnicities. 

 

Tara Bordeaux, named Texas Teacher of the Year in 2018, said: "The training makes you feel like you really can accomplish anything. It was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

 

According to the German news agency, Apple has shared some of the apps and programs developed by the participants.
