We decided to terminate Baqura and Ghamr annexes: King

Amman - His Majesty King Abdullah II said on Sunday that Jordan has decided to terminate the two annexes that allowed Israel to use the land of Baqura and Ghamr areas.
 
During his meeting with political dignitaries at al-Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah said Jordan today informed Israel of its decision to terminate the two annexes of the peace treaty.
 
His Majesty said: "Baqura and Ghamr are Jordanian territory and will remain Jordanian, and we exercise full sovereignty over our land."
 
During the meeting, His Majesty noted the issue of Baqura and Ghamr areas, which have been dealt with extensively, has been our top priority for a long time, affirming "our priorities in such difficult regional circumstances are protecting our interests and doing everything necessary for Jordan and the Jordanians.
 
In turn, the dignitaries appreciated the important decision to terminate the two annexes, which is considered a national decision that serves Jordan's higher interests.
 
The dignitaries also spoke on a number of issues related to the local affairs, including the economic situation, political reform and the rule of law, stressing the importance of the His Majesty's discussion papers in this regard.
 
The discussions touched on a host of regional issues, particularly the Palestinian issue, developments on the Syrian crisis, and Jordan's efforts to address crises in the region.
 
Chief of the Royal Court, Advisor to His Majesty and Director of the King's Office, and Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.
