AMMAN — A total of 6,516 teachers in Amman and Irbid's Ramtha district have received the first dose of anti-COVID-19 vaccine since the launch of the campaign on Tuesday, the Education Ministry said on Saturday.

Education Ministry Secretary General for Financial and Administrative Affairs Najwa Qbeilat said that the campaign will continue on Sunday in the announced vaccination centres with a rate of 300 teachers in each centre, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Qbeilat said that the vaccination campaign will continue after the Eid Al Fitr holiday in Amman, expecting the campaign to start in other governorates on May 17 at the centres announced for this purpose.

The ministry also said that it is moving ahead with the campaign that it launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management, in preparation for the safe return to school as of the next academic year.

In-class education at schools has been suspended since almost mid-March 2020, due to the outbreak of the virus in the Kingdom. The ministry said the vaccination camping for teachers has been launched in a bid to resume classroom education at schools.
