AMMAN — Minister of State for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh on Saturday met with the Head of the Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee Svetlana Sagaydak and an accompanying delegation to discuss the economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, which was attended by Russian Ambassador to Jordan Bolotin Boris Fedorovich, Shehadeh stressed that the political relationship between Jordan and Russia, which was strengthened by His Majesty King Abdullah and Russian President Vladimir Putin, has helped improve the communication between the two countries’ governments and deepen the understanding between institutions of both countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He added that these relations witnessed further success over the past years due to the improvement of joint strategic economic and development initiatives between the two countries.

The minister pointed out the economic reforms that led to important developments in economic sectors, noting that the amendment of certain legislations and the signing of Arab and international agreements opened new export markets, while macroeconomic policies preserved the development of the Jordanian economy.

Shehadeh stressed that Jordan welcomes Russian companies, whose investment can be combined with a high level of technology and advanced managerial approaches.

For her part, Sagaydak commended the deep-rooted bilateral relations between Jordan and Russia. She presented Russia’s action plan in hosting the Expo 2025, pointing out that Russia has been taking part in the World Expo since 1851 but has never hosted it, according to Petra.

The expo is held for six months every five years to discuss global issues and challenges facing participating countries and propose appropriate solutions to address them and mitigate their effects.
