Premier attends JHDA building code celebration

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Monday inaugurated a celebratory event held by the Jordan Housing Developers Association (JHDA) marking the ratification of a long-contested building code, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

For three years the government and the JHDA had not been able to reach a consensus on the building code amendments until Razzaz met with the association last Thursday and agreed with them on the final amendments proposed by both parties.

The code had been a point of controversy on all administrative and municipal levels in the capital, he noted.

He also confirmed that the new code would be issued within days, adding that it enables developers to build affordable houses for Jordanians.

A number of officials and ministers also attended the event, as the premier congratulated the association and attendees on what he described as a “product of commitment to the greater good of the country”.
