Blood of Saleh and the curse of the Houthis - By Mashari Althayidi, Al Arabiya

Despite the din and bustle of Houthis celebrating the death of Ali Abdullah Saleh, leader of the General People’s Congress in Yemen, the consequences will not be in favor of the Houthi militias.

Saleh’s blood is not like any other shed in the past. Saleh, who was in the last days of his life, decided to take a patriotic position and turned the table on the Houthis. He urged the Yemenis to protect the republic from the Khomeinist racialist ordination.

This blood may have been the best thing Saleh has ever done in his political life, and it will be a force under which the energies to hunt down the Houthis will gather.

Strangely, we did not find a quick position from the Western capitals on the death of Saleh and his companions. As per Western standards, this is a war crime and public execution without trial.

Usually western capitals are keen to make such statements. This is why decision makers in the West are urged to come up with action plan against the group that has been classified by the Security Council, under Chapter VII, as a terrorist group.

The Yemeni government’s legitimate leader, Ben Daghr, has rightly called for international organizations and human rights organizations to take a genuine stand against the Houthis.

Organized terror
After the killing of Salah and his allies, the General People’s Congress underlined: “Isn’t time for the world to realize that this fascist Houthi militia is killing people and demolishing homes in an organized acts of terror?”

While Houthi celebrated the murder, we saw celebrations of the leaders of the Khomeinist regime in Iran. According to the Iranian Tasnim agency, the head of the Khomeini Revolutionary Guards, Jafari, said: “Iran’s allies in Syria, Yemen and Bahrain were inspired by the experience of the Iranian revolution.”

The Kayhan newspaper, which is affiliated to the Supreme Leader, commented on the killing of Saleh by saying that it is: “One of the hidden divine gifts.” Even the dove of spiritual moderation Rouhani commented: “The faithful people of Yemen will make the aggressors regret their actions.”

But apart from these Khomeinist dramas, reality is something else. Even Iranian voices that served the regime, such as Qassim Muhib Ali, former president of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with an Iranian agency: “The Houthis have no chance of forming a government because neither the Arab League nor the international community nor the United Nations officially recognizes them.”

Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers expressed hope and support for the “uprising of the Yemeni people against the Houthi militias.

In my understanding, the killing of Saleh in this manner, after his consciences had awakened, is an opportunity. The universal cause could lead to safeguarding the Republic of Yemen.
