Wednesday, Pfizer-BioNTech issued a statement, saying that their vaccine may not provide sufficient protection against the Omicron COVID variant, but three doses are able to neutralize it.

 

 

According to studies conducted by laboratories, "the vaccine is still effective against COVID-19, especially against the Omicron mutant, if three doses are taken of it."

 

“Only two doses may not be sufficient to neutralize the mutant," the statement added.

 

Pfizer and BioNTech are continuing to develop a variant-specific vaccine for the Omicron variant, and say it will be available by March, if it is needed.
