AMMAN — The Queen Rania Children’s Hospital and online education platform Edraak on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the staff’s technical and administrative skills and provide long-term patients and children with learning opportunities while undergoing treatment.

 

Director General of the Royal Medical Services (RMS) Maj. Gen. Saad Jaber and Edraak CEO Shirin Yaqoub signed the memo, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

 

Jaber said that such learning activities can contribute to speeding their treatment, increasing a response to medication and reducing setbacks. 

 

He added that the RMS is among the first medical institutions to adopt such initiatives in psychological and physiological treatment. 

 

At Edraak’s behest, Yaqoub said that the initiative was in line with the platform’s mission to make knowledge and education accessible to all.”It is an embodiment of Her Majesty Queen Rania’s vision to advance education in the Arab world and Jordan to all the way to the top.”

 

The initiative’s e-classrooms utilise the technologies and open-source educational materials available via Edraak to providing free qualitative educational opportunities to patients at the hospital, according to Petra.

 

Hospital Director Brig. Gen. Adel Wahadneh said that hospital personnel and teachers of the “My Chance to Learn” programme will be trained to help students and family members of patients benefit from the platform as well.

 

“This increases the initiative’s value for local communities,” he added.
