AMMAN — A special investigation team from the Preventive Security Department on Monday arrested a suspect in Sunday’s bank robbery.

 

The Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted Public Security Department Spokesman Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi as saying that the department’s personnel had arrested the person they believed committed the armed robbery in the Manara neighbourhood of east Amman, and that they had managed to retrieve most of the stolen money.

 

Last Sunday, police received a tip saying that an armed masked man had entered a bank in the Manara neighbourhood and stolen a sum of money at gunpoint before fleeing the scene, Sartawi said.

 

The investigative team identified the suspect in the robbery and he was arrested after authorities located his whereabouts. Sartawi added that during the interrogation, the suspect confessed to planning and committing the robbery using a fake revolver.
