Queen meets local farmers, beneficiaries of Dibeen.com online market

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday met with a number of farmers and local food producers during a visit to the Dibeen Farmers Market in Jabal Luweibdeh.

The vendors sell their produce and other local products on Dibeen.com, a website and mobile application launched last year to enable Jordanian producers to continue to market their products and deliver them to Jordanian consumers throughout the pandemic, according to a statement from Her Majesty’s office.

Speaking to the team behind Dibeen.com at Manara Arts and Culture, Queen Rania noted that the past year has been difficult on everyone, leading many local businesses to pivot to digital markets and begin selling their products online.

She commended Dibeen.com’s founder, Zeid Qudsi, for providing farmers and vendors with easy access to Jordanian consumers, and for creating channels for high-quality agricultural products to be delivered straight to customers’ homes.

Her Majesty also expressed her pride in the cooperation of the website’s young team with local farm owners, helping them package their products and market them to a wider audience.

In addition to the online market place, Dibeen.com also provides support to local producers regarding packaging, branding, and distributing their local produce, animal products, and other items.

During her tour of the farmers market, Queen Rania spoke to a number of Dibeen.com’s vendors and beneficiaries, who explained how the use of technology helped them to not only continue working throughout the pandemic, but also widen their consumer base.
