71 COVID deaths, 6,032 virus cases recorded Sunday

AMMAN — Seventy-one COVID-19 deaths and 6,032 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, increasing the caseload to 632,907, the government announced.
 
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 7,201 according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
 
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 14.68 per cent, compared with 14.02 per cent reported on Saturday.
 
A total of 41,101 virus tests were also conducted on Sunday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 6,071,373, according to the statement.
 
The statement added that 9,269 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 543,761.
 
The statement added that there are currently 81,945 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
 
A total of 365 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Sunday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 3,253, the statement said, adding that 376 recovered patients left hospitals.
 
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 51 per cent, ICU beds reached 73 per cent, while occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 50 per cent.
 
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 65 per cent, 77 per cent ICUs and 44 per cent for ventilators.
 
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 34 per cent, 45 per cent for ICUs and 26 per cent for ventilators.
 
The cases comprised 2,053 infections in Amman, 1,081 in Irbid, including seven in Ramtha District, 776 in Zarqa, 322 in Karak, 301 in Balqa, 288 in Jerash, 250 in Mafraq, 241 in Aqaba, 238 in Tafileh, 208 in Ajloun, 152 in Madaba, 122 in Maan, including 41 cases in Petra District.
