AMMAN — The government’s fuel pricing committee on Monday decided to maintain the prices of fuel derivatives for December except diesel, which will see a hike of JD0.01 per litre.

With the committee’s decision, the price of one litre of unleaded 90-octane gasoline will stay at JD0.665 in December, according to an Energy Ministry statement.

The price per litre of unleaded 95-octane gasoline will continue selling at JD0.880 in December, while the price of diesel will go up to JD0.470 per litre up from JD0.460 in November.

The price of kerosene will remain at JD0.460 per litre until the end of April, upon a recommendation from the Cabinet due to the importance of this item for the general public who use it for heating during winter, with the possibility to reduce the price if international rates drop during this period.

The price of gas cylinders, as usual, will remain at JD7.

Prices of oil derivatives in the local market are calculated based on international prices, in addition to other costs, including shipping and taxes.

The committee said that it referred to international oil prices, which showed that the cost of a barrel of crude Brent oil in October stood at $40.2.8, compared with $42.5 in November.

The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission on Monday also decided to maintain the “differences in fuel prices” category on monthly electricity bills for December at zero fils per kilowatt-hour, according to a commission statement.
