Daily Mail

Adele and Simon Konecki had reportedly been 'living separate lives for years' after news of their shock split emerged.

The singer, 30, and her estranged husband, 45, confirmed their separation on Friday night after an eight-year relationship and three-year marriage.

And now it has been reported that Adele and Simon had been 'living separate lives for years' and 'accepted that something just isn’t going to work'.

A source told The Sun: 'This is a very sad situation - Adele and Simon had been living separate lives for some time.

'It was well known amongst their friends that this time they simply were not going to sort it out.

'They had been trying for years but eventually you have to accept that something just isn't going to work.'

MailOnline has contacted Adele's representatives for comment.

Adele, who met the charity entrepreneur in 2011 and married him in secret in 2016, said the pair were committed to raising their six-year-old son Angelo together 'lovingly'.

The singer's representatives said on Friday night: 'Adele and her partner have separated.

'They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy.'

Her spokespeople added that the star would be making no further comment on the matter.

Adele and Simon tied the knot sometime in 2016, though they managed to keep the secret wedding under wraps until the following year.

The singer confirmed the union on-stage as she picked up a Best Album Award at the 2017 Grammys.

During an emotional acceptance speech, she said: 'I'm married! My husband, my son, you're the only reason I do it.'

Simon is a charity CEO who was born on April 1974 in New York but moved with his family to London when he was 10-years-old.

Adele, known for her chart-topping albums 19, 21 and 25, is one of the best-selling artists in the world and has won a string of awards.
