AMMAN — Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is partnering with the Dutch embassy in Amman in a project to expand public dialogue on human rights through the media, the JHR announced on Sunday.

A statement issued by JHR –– a Toronto-based organisation –– said the project seeks to equip Jordanian journalists with the skills and tools to facilitate a more informed public dialogue on human rights.

“Supporting media is key to raise awareness about human rights and promote greater freedom of expression,” the statement quoted Dutch Ambassador Paul van den IJjseel as saying. Rachel Pulfer, the executive director of JHR, said the organisation was “confident of powerful and positive results”. Some 60 journalists will be trained over two years, the JHR said.
