AMMAN — Curfew hours will be reduced starting from the first day of Eid Al-Fitr. As of Thursday, curfew hours will be slashed to begin at 11pm and run until 6am, and from 10pm until 6am for establishments, with the exception of those exempted by the prime minister, due to the nature of their work, according to a statement made by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh.

The government has confirmed that the decision to reduce curfew hours for individuals and establishments, starting on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, was made within the framework of safe gradual measures that the government is taking while accounting for the epidemiological situation through the application of health protocols and adherence to vaccinations, in hopes of reaching a safe summer in which most sectors can return to regular operations.

The government pointed out that the decision relies on the commitment of citizens and institutions to adhere to public safety measures.

The government noted that it would continue to keep the balance between preserving citizens’ health, sustaining economic activities, and taking more lenient measures in accordance with changes in the epidemiological situation.

The government indicated that a safe summer entails opening most sectors in the beginning of July and the return to face-to-face education at schools and universities in September, as the Kingdom’s vaccine drive enters “advance stages”, reaching individuals and workers across all sectors.
