Interior ministry amends passport procedures for expat Jordanians

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad on Monday announced a decision to amend the procedure for issuing and renewing regular passports for Jordanians who live outside of the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Under the amendment, passport applicants who have previously received a judicial ruling, been accused in a financial case involving the Treasury or received a final criminal court decision, will not be able to renew their regular passports.

Instead, they will be given compulsory travel documents to return to the Kingdom with the approval of the Minister of Interior, provided that the approval of the relevant security authorities is also obtained.

The minister noted that the amendment comes from the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to simplify and facilitate passport renewal procedures for Jordanians who are living outside of the Kingdom, and provide them with the optimal services so that they can move and work to the fullest capacity.
