AMMAN — Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh on Wednesday launched the “Amman: a health city” initiative that aims at executing procedures on banning smoking and tobacco products in work and crowded places, especially in restaurants, coffee shops, parks and facilities affiliated with the Greater Amman Municipality.

Amman is now member of the Healthy Cities Initiative, which is a group of cities aimed at addressing non-communicable diseases and injuries, which was launched in May, 2017 by Michael Bloomberg, World Health Organisation global ambassador for non-communicable Diseases and former mayor of New York, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
