Lower House approves Senate's amendments to Public-Private Partnership Law

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Lower House, during its Sunday session headed by First Deputy Speaker Nassar Qaisi, approved the Senate’s amendments to the Public-Private Partnership Law.

Head of the Lower House’s Economic and Investment Committee Khair Abu Saelik said that the Senate’s amendments “do not fundamentally affect the law and are in line with the Lower House’s decision”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

The law aims to secure funds for public projects and implement them in a way that garners added value, either by establishing infrastructure and public facilities or by revamping, operating and maintaining them.

As the draft has been endorsed by the two houses of Parliament, the law will now be constitutionally sent to His Majesty King Abdullah for ratification.

Also on Sunday, the Lower House returned the draft law amending the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Law to the Tourism, Antiquities and Public Services Committee for further study.
