The UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said in a tweet on Tuesday that the Qatar boycott will continue in 2019.

“In my estimation, the Qatar boycott will continue in 2019 as it is tied to mandatory changes in Doha’s destructive directives,” Gargash wrote.

“Qatar’s failures to dismantle the measures taken against it will continue despite the high cost. The Qatari stance is driven by the former Emir and through it defends a legacy that has put Doha in a bind,” Gargash continued.

As for Yemen, he stressed that “the Arab alliance is in a better position, and that the New Year will witness a breakthrough in the Yemeni crisis,” as well as a political deterioration of the Houthis’ position.”

“The road is still rugged and Yemeni issues must be paved for with a serious internal Yemeni dialogue, but thanks to the intervention’ of the coalition led by Riyadh we are more optimistic,” he added.

“Perhaps we are still in gray areas, but the Arab presence has become more important, and its role is greater than in previous years.”
