AMMAN — Jordan condemned on Friday night the break-in of Israeli occupation forces into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and their attacks on worshippers there.

 

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Dhaifallah Al-Fayez denounced the break-in and assaults on worshippers as “flagrant violations and brutal actions that are condemned and unacceptable.”

 

Fayez demanded that occupation authorities remove their personnel from Al-Haram Al-Sharif and that they leave worshippers to freely perform prayers, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

 

He warned Israeli authorities against the repercussions of this escalation, holding it accountable for the safety of Al-Aqsa and worshippers there, and demanded they adhere, as occupying forces, to international humanitarian law. 

 

The ministry spokesperson also condemned attacks on Jerusalemites at Al-Aqsa’s premises and in the Old City’s Shiekh Jarrah neighborhood.

 

Fayez urged the international community to pressure Israel into ceasing escalations and infringements upon Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, the Old City and the occupied East Jerusalem.
