Today's dumbest news story of the week comes courtesy of Donia Samir Ghanem's "fans."

 

See, earlier this year, Ghanem received praise from those poor pilgrims worried about her mortal soul: for Ghanem, you see, made hajj, posting a photo of herself in Mecca with hijab on.

 

"God be praised!" said fans of Ghanem. "She has found the True Path."

 

Ghanem, perhaps hoping to receive some praise herself, wandered pretty easily off the True Path after she posted a follow-up photo of herself in a yellow dress.

 

Fans disappointed that Ghanem has, you know, not necessarily taken their perception of piety with her outside of Mecca were flabbergasted.

 

The rest of the world carried on.
