AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday “strongly” condemned Fiji’s decision to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Majali said the move is “rejected and condemned”, stressing that it represents a "blatant" violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, and undermines international efforts to recognise an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the two-state solutio
Majali reiterated that any measures or decisions aimed at altering the legal and historical status of Jerusalem are “null, illegitimate and unlawful.”
He reaffirmed that the only path to achieving just and comprehensive peace, and ensuring security and stability in the region, lies in the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
