AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received Deputy Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Mubarak Al Khurainej and “expressed his satisfaction with the historical relations with Kuwait and the need to boosting them at all levels”.

King Abdullah also expressed his appreciation of the Kuwaiti stances in supporting Jordan and helping it under different circumstances, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty, in the presence of Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, commended the level of cooperation and coordination between the two countries' institutions, especially in parliamentary fields.

He also re-expressed his condolences over the loss of life of the recent attack on Al Imam Al Sadeq Mosque in Kuwait, and reiterated Jordan's stance and support to the Gulf country in combating terrorism, the statement added.

For his part, Khurainej conveyed the greetings of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah to King Abdullah, and highlighted the deep bilateral ties, praising the Kingdom's stances towards regional issues and challenges, and its ability to deal with them.

He also expressed his country’s appreciation for the Kingdom’s efforts it exerts in hosting Syrian refugees and providing them with humanitarian and medical services, stressing Kuwait’s support to Jordan in this regard.

King’s Office Director Jafar Hassan, First Deputy Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Saleh Al Duaij and Khurainej’s accompanying delegation also attended the meeting.

Earlier on Wednesday, Tarawneh met with Khurainej and reviewed the repercussions of regional conditions, especially regarding refugees, and their impact on Jordan in different fields such as the economic and commercial sectors, noting that youth’s involvement in terrorism is a result of frustrating economic situations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Khurainej said that under current regional circumstances, the Arab nation needs to join efforts to face the prevailing challenges, especially those related to security and terrorism.

The meeting also addressed many issues of mutual concern, mainly joint relations, and economic and cultural exchange, in addition to regional issues such as the Syrian crisis, Petra added.
