After having won the World Post & Parcel Award, often regarded as the Oscar for the mail and express industry, for the “Innovation” Category in 2016, LibanPosy was elected this year as the winner of the World Post & Parcel Award for the “Corporate Social Responsibility” Category.

"LibanPost feels particularly privileged to have been honored by this prize, in a competition described as particularly strong this year, where submissions of projects were made by some of the most innovative and progressive organizations in the international post and parcel sector, and against two prestigious finalists namely the American USPS and the German Deutsche Post DHL Group," LibanPost said in a statement.

The prize was handed over during an evening gala ceremony held in London on June 12, in the presence of over 120 postal delegates from around the globe such as Canada Post, La Poste, Royal Mail and several others.

It is worth mentioning that LibanPost was also selected this year as the recipient of 2 “High Command” distinctions, one in the “People Management” Category for its Gender Parity project, in competition with Blue Dart Express Ltd. (India) and Correos Y Telegrafos (Spain), and one in the “Retail Customer Access” Category for its Multi Access Points project, in competition with An Post (Ireland) and CTT Portugal Post.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Award was granted in recognition of LibanPost’s "comprehensive efforts towards gender parity and women’s economic participation."

LibanPost said that this was founded on various axes including: policy making; securing proper female representation along the hierarchical ladder; introducing women in roles from which they were totally absent before; implementing affordable work life balance initiatives; as well as external actions such as a special stamp issuance honoring Lebanese women pioneers; the company’s participation to the U.N. Global Compact Initiative on the gender parity goal; and LibanPost’s role in the nationwide “Gender equality study” launched by the Lebanese League of Women in Business in 2018.

"By properly managing the change and succeeding in introducing women for the first time to the distribution world, whether driving cars or motorcycles, and even taking charge of a complete distribution center, LibanPost contributes to a paradigm shift," the company added.

"Indeed, this symbolic breakthrough confirms that things can change when strongly held unconscious cultural biases are overcome. Such a step is particularly valuable in this part of the world where gender inequalities still prevail and where women are denied rights otherwise seen as basic elsewhere," it said.

It added: "LibanPost would like to seize this opportunity to sincerely thank each one of you for your partnership and trust, and for giving us the opportunity to carry Lebanon’s flag high up not only locally but also on the international scene."

A judge said that "it is impressive how many postal groups have embraced the fact that they have a natural and important role in corporate social responsibility."

"The winner this year, LibanPost, was chosen because of a bold, courageous and meaningful project that affects many societies," the judge added.
