Amman - Deputy Atef Tarawneh was elected on Sunday by his peers as the Lower House speaker.

 

Tarawneh won 87 votes, while his rival for speakership MP Abdullah Akayleh garnered 39 votes, and three ballots were canceled.

 

MP Fazwi Taymeh made the announcement, adding a total of 129 MPs voted.
