AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Huneiti on Wednesday received NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood Javier Colomina at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).

The discussions focused on regional and international developments, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation in training, modernisation and the integration of advanced technologies within the army.

Huneiti reiterated the strong strategic ties between the JAF and NATO, underscoring ongoing cooperation in expertise exchange and capacity-building in defence and training, according to a JAF statement.

He noted that this reflects Jordan’s commitment as a key partner in safeguarding regional and international security and stability, according to a JAF statement.

Colomina commended Jordan’s proactive role in promoting security and stability, describing the Kingdom as a vital partner in countering regional threats and a cornerstone of international efforts to address shared risks.

Colomina is visiting Jordan to inaugurate NATO’s diplomatic liaison office in Amman. The office was established under an agreement signed on June 12, 2025, between Jordan and the alliance to enhance diplomatic engagement and political dialogue.
