AMMAN — Data from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply showed on Thursday a "notable" increase in the registration of sole proprietorships and trade names in 2025 compared with 2024.

Ministry spokesperson Yanal Barmawi said that the number of sole proprietorship registrations last year reached 25,600, up from 21,499 in 2024, reflecting "clear" growth in commercial registration activity, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Barmawi added that the Central Commercial Registry recorded 10,023 trade names in 2025, compared with 7,586 in 2024, signalling an "uptick" in economic activity and entrepreneurial initiatives.

He noted that 228 commercial agencies and 44 agents and brokers were registered, while 11,089 trade names were amended.

The registry works to create a "conducive" investment and commercial environment that encourages industries, crafts and commercial professions, while facilitating business operations for agents and brokers in a smooth and efficient manner.

To this end, the registry publishes the names of traders and commercial entities to build trust in commercial dealings and safeguard the rights of businesses and their partners.

It also records rights over movable property to assist buyers and financiers in making informed purchasing or financing decisions, and to provide transparency regarding any encumbrances on such assets.
