Jordan holds Israel responsible for safety of Jordanians aboard Gaza aid flotilla

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation of Jordanians on board the “Global Freedom Flotilla,” which was intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters, the ministry said on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry held Israel fully responsible for the safety of the Jordanian nationals, warning against any harm that could befall them.
Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali said the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs is in direct contact with several Jordanians from the flotilla to monitor their situation. He added that the ministry is taking all necessary measures and communications to safeguard their rights, ensure their safety, and facilitate their return home. Majali also noted that Jordan stands ready to assist in evacuating citizens of other
nations upon request. He condemned the interception of the flotilla, describing it as a “blatant violation of international law, a threat to maritime freedom, and a danger to civilian lives.”
He urged the international community to uphold its legal and moral obligations, press Israel to comply with international and humanitarian law, and guarantee unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza in light of the catastrophic humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing Israeli offensive.
