AMMAN — Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa on Saturday participated in the 22nd extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to discuss ongoing developments in Somalia.
Speaking at the session held in Jeddah, Namrouqareaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to protecting the security of the Somali people while backing the country’s legitimate state institutions.
She also stressed Jordan’s rejection of all attempts to establish parallel entities that could threaten Somalia’s unity and stability, and condemned Israel’s recognition of the Somaliland region, describing it as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter and a clear infringement of the Federal Republic of Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
The minister reiterated Jordan’s position, emphasisingthe need to fully adhere to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and to provide sufficient and sustainable humanitarian assistance to the territory.
“Achieving stability requires a clear political framework capable of delivering a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution,” she said.
Namrouqa also called for united efforts to stop Israel’s dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank and to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, highlighting their most important right is an independent, sovereign state on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
