“Gaza prisoner exchange to release 1,950 Palestinians, including 250 lifers”: al-Hayya

Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas Chief Negotiator, officially announced reaching a ceasefire deal, highlighting the resilience of Gaza’s residents and announcing an agreement to end hostilities in the region.
Al-Hayya praised the people of Gaza, saying they “stood like mountains” in the face of killing, displacement, hunger, and the destruction of homes, and that their steadfastness had left the world “astonished” at their sacrifices. He emphasized that Gaza had endured a war “unlike anything the world has ever seen,” resisting the 'Israeli' military’s operations and attempted displacement campaigns.
He also honored the memory of Hamas leaders and resistance figures who had played a central role in the conflict, including Ismail Haniyeh, Saleh al-Arouri, Yahya Sinwar, and Khalil al-Dhief, describing them as key figures in what he called the “blessed October 7 battle.”
Al-Hayya highlighted the achievements of Hamas fighters, noting their frontline engagement “from point zero” against Israeli tanks and military forces, and asserting that they had thwarted Israeli plans for displacement, starvation, and chaos. He added that the same determination shown in combat was reflected at the negotiation table.
According to al-Hayya, the prolonged negotiations, despite repeated Israeli delays and violations, were conducted with “high responsibility,” including responses to proposals from the U.S. administration, ultimately resulting in a comprehensive ceasefire agreement.
The deal includes:
Entry of humanitarian aid and the opening of the Rafah crossing.
Prisoner exchanges, with 250 Palestinian detainees sentenced to life and 1,700 prisoners from Gaza to be released.
International guarantees from mediators and the US confirming that hostilities have fully ended.
Al-Hayya expressed gratitude to the mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as to supportive nations including Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran, and to global solidarity networks.
He concluded by praising the people of Gaza for two years of perseverance, defending Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, and continuing to resist, saying:
“Gaza is sacred to its enemies; its people do not break, and nothing harms them even when abandoned by others.”
