AMMAN — The Sanad government services application will introduce artificial intelligence features next year, alongside plans to establish an artificial intelligence factory, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat said on Saturday.
Speaking during a panel discussion titled “Digital Transformation in Jordan: A Step Towards the Future” at the Future of Media and Communication Forum in Amman, Smeirat said the planned features are part of efforts to use advanced technologies to improve public services, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
He said six laws had been amended to enable citizens to complete government service procedures digitally, from submitting applications to receiving services.
Cabinet decisions are now signed entirely digitally, Smeirat said, adding that legislative amendments had provided the legal framework needed to improve service delivery and reduce human intervention.
He noted growing demand for the Sanad application as more services become available through the platform, with efforts under way to simplify government procedures and facilitate access to public services.
Smeirat said the application would soon send a congratulatory message to the father of a newborn immediately after birth, offering the option to issue a birth certificate through the platform.
He added that the ease of use had contributed to an increase in activated digital IDs on Sanad and that a dedicated version of the application for tourists was also planned.
Smeirat said the planned AI factory would support the ministry’s efforts to expand the use of advanced technologies and develop digital services.
He stressed that the success of digital services should be measured by their impact on citizen satisfaction and their ability to enable people to access government services easily from home.
