AMMAN — Jordanian air defences intercepted and destroyed 18 of 20 ballistic missiles launched towards the Kingdom from Iran in the past hours, the Jordan Armed Forces -Arab Army(JAF ) said.

 

JAF official spokesperson said in a statement that the remaining two missiles fell in unpopulated areas, reporting no deaths as a result of the attack.

 

The Armed Forces said they responded to the missile threat in accordance with established operational procedures, with the aim of protecting Jordanian airspace and ensuring the safety of civilians.

 

Specialised teams were dispatched to sites where missile fragments and other debris fell, the spokesperson said, adding that the areas were secured and necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of nearby residents.

 

JAF urged the public to avoid approaching, touching or moving any unidentified objects, fragments or debris and to immediately notify the relevant authorities if such items are found.

 

The military also warned against spreading rumors or unverified information, urging the public to rely on statements issued by official authorities for updates on the situation.

 

Jordanian surveillance, early-warning and air-defence systems remain at their highest levels of readiness, the statement said, adding that military units continue to operate around the clock to protect the kingdom, its security and the sovereignty of its airspace.

 

The army said it is continuing to monitor and assess developments and will issue further information through their official channels as necessary.
