AMMAN — Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa and Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in family and social services.
The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and the High-Level Arab Conference on Implementing the Declaration of the Second World Summit for Social Development, currently held in Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Bani Mustafa highlighted the importance of the MoU in exchanging expertise and the best practices to empower families and women, and develop and enhance the effectiveness of social services provided to families, women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly.
She said that the areas of cooperation will include developing and boosting preventive, developmental, guidance, and rehabilitative social service activities for families and communities, as well as protecting and reinforcing family structure and values, women’s empowerment, and services for persons with disabilities, including their social inclusion and integration within society and families.
She also underscored the importance of sharing experiences across a number of social fields and reviewing relevant joint experiences between the two sides.
For her part, Goktas stressed the importance of joint cooperation in several social sectors and the exchange of expertise and experiences, commending the social programmes implemented by the Ministry of Social Development for its targeted social groups.
