AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday condemned the infiltration of an armed group linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard into Bubiyan Island, with the aim of carrying out hostile acts against Kuwait.

The Foreign Ministry condemned the act in a statement as a “clear violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a serious threat to its security and stability, as well as a breach of international law and the UN Charter.”

The ministry reiterated Jordan’s rejection of the attack and any action that could undermine Kuwait’s security, reiterating the Kingdom’s full solidarity with Kuwait and its support for all measures taken to protect its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

In Kuwait, authorities said on Tuesday that four infiltrators linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were arrested after attempting to enter the country by sea.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence said that one member of the armed forces was injured during an exchange of fire with the infiltrators.

The Interior Ministry said that, during interrogation, the suspects admitted belonging to the Revolutionary Guard and said that they were assigned to infiltrate Bubiyan Island using a fishing boat hired specifically for the mission, with the aim of carrying out hostile acts against Kuwait.

According to the statement, an armed clash took place with Kuwaiti security forces, as one serviceman was injured, while two of the infiltrators managed to flee.
