Jordan, Saudi business council maps out 2027 roadmap for joint ventures

AMMAN — The Joint Jordan–Saudi Business Council convened on Sunday to establish a comprehensive economic roadmap for 2027, aiming to transition bilateral private-sector ties from individual investments into joint ventures across Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the broader region.

Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) President Khalil Hajj Tawfiq emphasised that despite deep historical and political relations, both nations are committed to significantly boosting trade and investment, according to Al Mamlaka TV.

A key focus involves creating a framework to position Jordan as a strategic regional hub and launch pad for joint ventures entering neighbouring markets, particularly for reconstruction projects in Syria and Iraq, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Saudi Head of the Joint Business Council Abdulrahman Thubaiti highlighted Jordan’s geopolitical role as a critical logistics and transport artery linking Saudi Arabia to the Levant.

He noted that Saudi Arabia’s expertise in construction materials, including steel, cement and glass, presents strong synergies with Jordanian technical capability.

To streamline these efforts, the council established 12 specialised committees, including dedicated groups on regional reconstruction, while restructuring its operations to ensure flexibility and project-based execution.

The combined efforts seek to promote reciprocal investments and market access. Hajj Tawfiq announced a proposal for a specialised franchise exhibition in Jordan to introduce local food, service, and commercial brands to the Saudi market, alongside supporting the expansion of Saudi franchises into Jordan.

Additionally, an upcoming agreement is anticipated between a leading Jordanian information technology firm and a Saudi partner, underscoring the growing potential of the technology sector.

To sustain this momentum, the council announced plans to hold a Joint Saudi–Jordanian Economic and Investment Forum in Saudi Arabia in 2027.

The forum will showcase investment opportunities, present market products, and serve as a platform to announce new bilateral projects.

Both sides emphasised that aligning Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV) with Saudi Arabia’s strategic economic plans will foster deeper integration; drive foreign currency flows and generate sustainable economic growth across both nations.
