AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Tuesday took part in the World Governments Summit, which kicked off in Dubai with the participation of heads of state, prime ministers and senior government officials representing nearly 60 countries, alongside leaders of international organisations and global and academic institutions.
On the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister met UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The meeting underscored the importance of the World Governments Summit as a global platform for exchanging expertise and ideas, and for forging new partnerships aimed at enhancing government performance and drawing on successful international experiences, particularly in light of the broad participation of government leaders, experts, researchers, academics and specialists.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen fraternal bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic and investment sectors, affirming the shared commitment to expanding cooperation in line with the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah and UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The meeting also stressed the importance of the economic and investment partnership between the two countries, within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Meanwhile, the prime minister held separate meetings with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Masrour Barzani, with the talks focusing on bilateral relations and prospects for enhancing cooperation across various fields, in addition to discussing regional developments and the importance of strengthening efforts to enhance security and stability.
Established in 2013, the World Governments Summit focuses on harnessing innovation and advanced technology to address pressing global challenges and on shaping future-ready governments. The current edition, which brings together more than 6,000 participants from around the world, addresses five main themes: global governance and effective leadership, societal wellbeing and human capabilities, economic prosperity and emerging opportunities, the future of cities and demographic transformations, and future horizons and opportunities.
