AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday condemned a ballistic missile attack launched by Yemen's Houthi militia targeting southern Saudi Arabia, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the attack constituted a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and posed a threat to the Kingdom's security, stability and territorial integrity, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed Jordan's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its continued support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
The ministry also said the attack represented a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and underscored Jordan's firm rejection of any actions that threaten regional security and stability.
The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the escalating situation in and around Yemen, with member states condemning Iran's alleged support for the Houthi militia and expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia following the group's ballistic missile attacks on the Kingdom.
