AMMAN — The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has commenced final arrangements for the upcoming Hajj season, stressing full compliance with Saudi regulations to ensure pilgrim safety, Ministry Spokesperson Mohammad Tawalbeh said on Saturday.

Speaking to Al Mamlaka TV, Tawalbeh urged citizens to avoid fraudulent campaigns promoting Hajj without official permits or via inappropriate visas, such as transit or visit visas.

He warned that violators will face fines of up to 20,000 Saudi riyals, as well as potential exploitation.

The spokesperson noted “high-level” coordination between the Awqaf and interior ministries, alongside ongoing cooperation with Saudi authorities.

He highlighted that Saudi Arabia ceased issuing Umrah visas as of April 14 and has restricted entry to Mecca and the Holy Sites to authorised personnel only.

Tawalbeh added that the ministry only recognises licensed companies listed on its official platforms.

“Any reports concerning housing or accommodation irregularities are being monitored closely to curb illegal practices,” he added.

Regarding penalties, the spokesperson revealed that a limited number of violations are currently under investigation.

He stressed that those facilitating the transport or housing of unauthorised pilgrims face fines of up to 100,000 Saudi riyals, potential imprisonment for up to six months, and a minimum 10-year ban from entering Saudi Arabia.

Tawalbeh called on citizens to adhere to official instructions and avoid "fake Hajj traps" to ensure their safety and the secure performance of the pilgrimage.

The ministry has concluded all contracts for land and air transport, as well as accommodation arrangements.

Also, intensive training programmes and examinations for religious guides have been completed to ensure they are fully prepared to assist pilgrims during the rituals, Tawalbeh said.
