The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) on Wednesday carried out the sixth medical evacuation of children from Gaza, transferring 23 children along with 46 accompanying family members as part of the "Jordanian Medical Corridor" humanitarian initiative.

Nineteen of the children would receive treatment in Jordanian private hospitals, accompanied by 39 family members, while the remaining four will be flown to Turkey for treatment, accompanied by seven relatives, a move that reflects growing international support for the humanitarian effort, according to an army statement.

The patients and their families were received in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation, with the evacuation conducted under the highest standards of medical care. With this latest group, the total number of children evacuated from Gaza for treatment in Jordan has reached 77, along with 169 family members, transported by land and air.

Jordan continues to work towards evacuating more children in need of urgent medical care from Gaza and expediting their transfer for treatment. However, logistical and technical limitations faced by the World Health Organisation, along with other challenges, continue to hinder progress, the statement said.

The medical evacuation efforts, led by Jordan in support of the people of Gaza, began in early March following Royal directives, reaffirming the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to standing with the people of Gaza.
