Remittances to Jordan rise 14.3% in H1 to $2.5b

AMMAN — Expatriate workers’ remittances to the Kingdom rose by 13.3 per cent in June 2026 to $434.1 million, according to preliminary data from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).
 
Remittances during the first half of 2026 reached $2.4962 billion, marking a 14.3 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
 
CBJ figures showed that remittances from the UAE accounted for the largest share of total inflows during the first six months of 2026, at 21.2 per cent. The US followed with 19.6 per cent, Saudi Arabia with 17.7 per cent, Qatar with 10.3 per cent and Kuwait with 5.5 per cent, while remittances from other countries accounted for 25.7 per cent.
 
Outbound workers’ remittances from Jordan rose by 17.7 per cent in June 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, reaching $162.6 million. Outward transfers during the first half of the year stood at $969.3 million, reflecting a 15.5 per cent increase year-on-year.
 
Remittances sent to Egypt accounted for the largest share of total outbound transfers at 41.5 per cent, followed by Bangladesh at 11.8 per cent, the Philippines at 4.8 per cent and Palestine at 4.0 per cent. Transfers to other destinations accounted for 37.9 per cent.
