AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah received a phone call from Czech Republic President Petr Pavel on Friday, during which they discussed the dangerous developments in the region.

His Majesty reaffirmed the need to respect the sovereignty of countries in the region, and to prioritise dialogue and diplomatic channels in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable calm, according to a Royal Court statement.

The King reiterated that Jordan will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens.

His Majesty also underscored the need to prevent the exploitation of the current conflict in order to impact the situation in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.

Also on Friday, His Majesty received a phone call from Finland President Alexander Stubb, during which they discussed the importance of de-escalation in the region.

His Majesty reiterated that targeting Jordan and a number of countries in the region constitutes a violation of their sovereignty, and threatens to exacerbate the crisis, emphasising the importance of prioritising diplomacy and dialogue to resolve tensions, another Royal Court statement said.

The King highlighted that the situation in the region should not be exploited to impose restrictions on Palestinians and impact the situation in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

For his part, the Finnish president condemned the unjustified, indiscriminate attacks on countries in the region.
