Minister of Tourism opens annual conference for wedding planners in Aqaba

AMMAN — Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Emad Hijazeen inaugurated on Tuesday the11th Annual Destination Wedding Planners (DWP) Conference in Aqaba.
 
The conference represents the largest B2B platform dedicated to destination weddings, with nearly 500 industry leaders from over 70 countries gathering in the Red Sea city of Aqaba, according to a ministry statement.
 
The conference is organised by QnA International in collaboration with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Jordan Tourism Board, seeks to establish Aqaba as a centre for creativity, cooperation and inspiration in the luxury wedding sector.
 
ASEZA Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Shadi Majali, said at a press conference that we are honoured to welcome some of the world’s top destination wedding planners to Aqaba, an occasion that showcases creativity, luxury and the art of turning dreams into reality.
 
He added that Aqaba combines "unique" natural landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, and "world class" hospitality, offering an ideal setting to craft unforgettable experiences and shape the future of destination weddings.
 
Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board Abdul-Razzaq Arabiyat, said that holding the conference in Aqaba represents a strategic move to enhance Jordan’s standing on the international tourism map, highlighting that the Kingdom offers "distinctive" features that make it a prime destination for luxury weddings.
 
He affirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting the wedding industry as a promising sector that boosts the national tourism economy and showcases Jordan as a comprehensive tourist destination.
 
He also added that the Kingdom features some 15 remarkable historical sites suitable for hosting events, from ancient ruins to scenic coastal locations, making Jordan a perfect platform for celebrating stories that stand the test of time.
 
Arabiyat highlighted that holding the conference in Aqaba contributes to enhancing Jordan’s international reputation in this specialised sector and reaffirms the Board’s dedication to establishing the Kingdom as a premier destination for luxury events.
