The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) has announced that Jordan’s air transport sector recorded remarkable growth last year, with the Kingdom’s airports surpassing the 10 million passenger mark for arrivals and departures, highlighting the sector’s steady recovery and its growing contribution to the national economy.

Official figures from CARC showed that more than 10 million passengers used the Kingdom’s airports in 2025, up from just under 9 million in 2024, reflecting a strong rebound in air travel and a rise in both tourism and business traffic.

Queen Alia International Airport remained the country’s main gateway in 2025, welcoming over 9.7 million passengers, including around 4.96 million arrivals and 4.82 million departures, up from about 8.8 million the previous year, while aircraft movements also increased, with 40,295 arrivals and 40,280 departures.

King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba also saw significant growth, with passenger numbers exceeding 213,000 in 2025, up from 161,000 in 2024, while aircraft movements rose to 2,240 arrivals and 2,237 departures.

Amman Civil Airport maintained steady operations throughout the year, with departing passenger numbers rising by6,150.

Jordanian airspace saw a notable increase in overflights in 2025, reaching 96,790 compared with 76,723 the previous year, highlighting the Kingdom’s role as an important regional air corridor.

CARC emphasised that the results reflect the success of ongoing efforts to improve airport infrastructure, boost operational efficiency, and expand the aviation network, in line with the Economic Modernisation Vision and the drive to enhance the competitiveness of Jordan’s aviation sector both locally and on the global stage.
