AMMAN — Jordan on Saturday welcomed the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), describing it as a temporary transitional body established under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 and coinciding with the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The ministry also welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump of the Peace Council, praising his leadership role and efforts to halt the war on Gaza, his declaration opposing the annexation of any part of the West Bank, and his push towards achieving lasting peace in the region.
The statement also commended the efforts of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey.
Sufian Qudah, ministry spokesperson, stressed the importance of supporting the work of the temporary Palestinian National Committee to enable it to manage the daily affairs of Gaza Strip residents, while preserving the link between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and safeguarding the unity of the occupied Palestinian territory.
Emphasising the need to maintain the ceasefire and ensure the immediate, sufficient and unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance into the war-torn Strip, Qudah highlighted the importance of launching early recovery and reconstruction efforts across the Strip and preparing the ground for the return of the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities there.
He added that achieving a just and lasting peace requires concerted international efforts based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
