AMMAN — Capital expenditure rose by 20 per cent in 2025 to JD1.4 billion, reflecting government efforts to accelerate the implementation of projects approved under the General Budget Law and to stimulate economic growth.

Preliminary financial data show that capital spending increased by approximately JD230 million by the end of 2025, marking a 20 per cent rise compared with 2024, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Actual capital expenditure reached around 96 per cent of the amount allocated in the 2025 General Budget Law, the highest execution rate on record, up from an average of 82 per cent in previous years.

Spending included about JD333 million for projects under the Economic Modernisation Vision, nearly JD180 million for municipal development projects, and around JD123 million for decentralisation initiatives in the governorates. Support for Jordan Tourism Board projects totalled approximately JD55 million.

Funds were also allocated to several major capital projects, including JD50 million for preliminary works on the National Carrier Project, as part of planned government support amounting to JD250 million. An additional JD29 million was directed towards completing the construction of Princess Basma Hospital.

Other expenditures covered the launch of natural gas supply to industrial clusters, maintenance of school buildings, nationwide road maintenance, and the development of computer systems to support the digital transformation of services across several ministries.

The increase in capital expenditure aligns with government policies aimed at boosting economic growth and accelerating economic activity. Capital spending is viewed as a key driver for attracting private sector participation in development projects, while supporting higher growth rates and improvements in public services and infrastructure across the Kingdom.
