JVA signs water-supply agreements for projects in Southern Jordan Valley

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) Hisham Hisa on Thursday signed several water-supply agreements for agricultural and industrial purposes with projects under the Agricultural Industrial Complexes in the Southern Jordan Valley, including Iktifa Food Industries Company and Safe Food for Industry, Trade and Distribution Company.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the agreements aim to boost local economic development by creating job opportunities for residents of surrounding communities and contributing to sustainable and inclusive development.

Hisa said the move aligns with the Economic Modernisation Vision and forms part of the government’s efforts to develop various regions of the Kingdom, particularly the governorates, by supporting productive projects and expanding employment opportunities.

He noted that the authority is working to translate Royal directives into tangible projects that improve living conditions in areas within its jurisdiction, enhance their investment appeal, support the local economy and create jobs for youth in targeted areas, through the provision of incentive packages to investors.

This, he added, will help improve income levels and strengthen social stability.

For their part, the investors expressed appreciation for the initiatives, saying they open the door for local investments that support the national economy and benefit communities near the project sites.
