AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour said on Monday that investors in the Maan Industrial City can apply for government wage support incentives for a period of three years.

 

The incentives were approved by the cabinet and are administered through the Maan Development Company, in accordance with the conditions and procedures established for the "production branches" mechanism, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

 

In a press release, Director of the Labour Ministry's Vocational and Technical Education Fund, Hadeel Abdallat, stated that operational support for production branches and industrial cities in the Karak, Tafilah and Maan governorates aims to create sustainable job opportunities for local residents, stimulate investment and expand economic activity in the southern regions.

 

The initiative, which aligns with Royal directives and the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV), is part of an integrated system of investment incentives and benefits tailored to these regions, she pointed out.

 

The production branch support mechanism includes a package of incentives for both establishments and workers, said Abdallat.

 

These include subsidising half the minimum wage for each eligible worker (subject to the approved mechanism) and covering transport allowances and Social Security contributions, each at a rate of JD25 per month.

 

Additionally, existing projects may benefit from incentives under the National Employment Programme, subject to its specific terms, thereby enhancing job sustainability and supporting expanded employment, she added.
