Hamas on Tuesday firmly rejected accusations made by US President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly, in which he claimed the group was obstructing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.
In a statement, Hamas said it had “never been an obstacle to reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza” and emphasized that it had shown “all necessary flexibility and positivity” in negotiations. The group added that the US administration, mediators, and the international community all knew that “the war criminal [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is the sole party blocking any attempts to reach an agreement.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump had claimed that Hamas refused to release captivesor agree to a ceasefire in the region.
Hamas’ statement underscores its ongoing rejection of US and 'Israeli' claims while reaffirming its position as a key party in negotiations over Gaza’s humanitarian and security situation.
