AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) said on Sunday it had dispatched a 50-truck humanitarian convoy to northern Gaza that carried critical food supplies to communities grappling with severe shortages, amid the ongoing Israeli war on the coastal enclave.
The convoy was organised in cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP) and in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) - Arab Army, and was part of the humanitarian aid bridge that Jordan has maintained since the start of the war on Gaza, JHCO said.
The organization said on Wednesday that it had resumed sending humanitarian aid convoys to Gaza, in coordination with JAF and WFP.
JHCO said that an aid convoy of 40 trucks loaded with essential food supplies crossed into the Gaza Strip last week.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said that the resumption of the convoys reflects Jordan’s steadfast commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, to standing with the Palestinian people.
He stressed the importance of cooperation with WFP in enhancing food security in Gaza, noting that the organisation has been working daily in recent months on food-related projects inside the strip, including through bakeries, communal kitchens, and the distribution of food and clean water.
According to official figures, since the beginning of the war, Jordan has sent 7,815 aid trucks and 53 cargo planes via Egypt’s Al Arish crossing, along with 102 helicopter sorties as part of its humanitarian air bridge.
In addition to emergency deliveries, the JHCO said it had launched several relief projects inside Gaza in collaboration with regional and international organisations.
