AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan on Thursday met with Executive Director of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Sang-Hyup Kim during his official visit to the Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by GGGI Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Director Mahamoudou Tounkara, as well as the institute’s Country Representative for Jordan Christophe Assicot, according to a ministry statement.
During the meeting, Toukan expressed her appreciation for the level of cooperation with the GGGI, commending the institute’s role in supporting Jordan’s priorities in green growth, climate action and climate finance mobilisation, in line with the Economic Modernisation Vision, the national green growth plans and the Kingdom’s commitments under the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The talks focused on boosting cooperation with the institute, particularly following the signing of the host country agreement for the GGGI in Jordan in August 2025, a move expected to provide sustained technical and institutional support.
The two sides also explored opportunities to expand the institute’s programmes, ensure their alignment with government priorities, and advance the development of GGGI’s programme framework in Jordan.
Kim commended the strong partnership with the Jordanian government, stressing GGGI’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s efforts to access climate finance, develop bankable climate-related projects, build national capacities, and advance the transition to an inclusive, climate-resilient green economy.
